Good points
This car looks good on the road with its 18″ alloys, lowered suspension, deeper grill, twin tailpipes and deep exhaust note. Good 4 wheel drive system and power was adequate.
Bad points
I was constantly having to return it to the main dealers for repair under its warranty. The ECU dropped its fill twice (The car would stutter under acceleration) this was fixed with a “patch” on the ECU program, eventually. The handbrake never worked properly and required adjustment every time the vehicle went into the garage. The tailgate required respraying as the lock had been fitted to tightly which caused the paint to crack off and rust appear. On turning right there was a loud hissing noise coming from the front wheel area, this was never fixed as they couldn’t work out what was causing it. and finally the doors groaned on opening and shutting and the seatbelts rattled even when under tension!!!
Other comments
Apart from all the trouble I was sad to see the car go. It could’ve done with more power though as other cars in its peer group are now equally powered or indeed have superceded it. VW should offer the option of a turbo to be fitted at the factory, I’m sure they’d get a lot of willing customers, I would’ve been one.
